Default FRT_Fun 1997 Bare Bones NA Build (MOAR PICS NAO)

So this is my old red Miata. The first one I bought. It previously had the FM Turbo kit on it and was fairly awesome.

I then got too greedy and went for a high boost build and lack of money resulted in a part out.

A year later I'm starting to rebuild it. This time the goal is weight reduction and NA. Not planning on making a lot of power, I want simplicity.

Body/Interior: Bare bones. Removing anything that isn't needed. 1 Seat. Custom Dash. Hardtop. Welded in roll bar. Sawzall approved.

Electronics: Megasquirt. Unsure of which one at this time. Built from scratch engine harness. Built from scratch lighting circuit. Fully tucked.

Engine: Stock 1.8 tuned for efficiency to start. A rebuild and some power adders after I get a baseline.

Suspension: Stock for now. Cheap *** coilovers eventually. Then maybe real suspension.

Drivetrain: RX7 clutch type differential, 4.1 gears.

Pictures will be up soon.

I've since cleaned up the first subframe and replaced upper/lower control arms with poly bushings.

This is the RX7 diff. The nose will be ditched for a miata style one and then installed .

Still removing stuff. Then cleaning/cutting. Then rebuilding

Attached are the picture of the ball joint which will need replacing, and the cleaned up subframe.

The hood? Don't worry about that hahaha.

It's from a previous failed project. May be modified for use with this car.

Anyone have any suggestions to help make my softtop removal easier?

It is not that hard to remove the soft top. I really think it is just a few bolts if you are taking off the frame.
