As someone who went a full lap at Sebring behind a Ferrari 599 on Saturday who couldn't find the driving line if he opened the door and felt around on the ground for it, I understand that concern. One of the people I heard from that had run with MVP said that they had to do lead-follow for a bunch of laps even though they were quite familiar with the particular track and had run there a couple of times before. That doesn't sound like much fun.

I am interested in your event in November at RA but want to know that the seventeen hour plus drive and a thousand dollar investment will be everything I am hoping for. I only go to the track every two or three months so I try to choose wisely what would be the best use of my time. While I realize that these are anecdotal incidents and are difficult to deal with on your end, as a potential consumer I only have this sort of information on which to make a determination. Please address these concerns, as best you can in the absence of specifics, and please offer me some reassurances or explanations that might give comfort as I make my decision.
First and foremost, we don't look down our noses at any safe car or any safe driver. You'll find at least a half a dozen of our instructors race Spec Miata or TT with NASA. Our run group classification, developed with the input of several of our instructors, is based soley on track experience, not the car. This is for safety purposes. If you must have proof, come to Road America in July. You'll find a number of Miata in our Advanced run group mixing it up with the other Miatas, S2000s, Vipers, Vettes, Porsche, Lotus, etc on what is considered a "Fast" track.

Point-bys are judiciously enforced with flags (black and blue) and what I term "Come To Jesus Meetings" for any offender. OH and if you find a wine & cheeser (actually single barrel bourbon would be a better description of our crowd) at our events, let me know, because I'd like to enjoy a cigar with them.

The first session for the Novice group, and only the first session for the Novice group, is indeed a lead-follow which starts off at modest speed but gets progressively faster. This is to familiarize the Novice drivers with the proper line (wet or dry - weather dependent). After this first Novice lead-follow session, the Novice group is on the normal HPDE format for the remaining five sessions. Yes, six scheduled run sessions for each group daily.

I'm speculating on this point, but my guess, an attendee wasn't happy because they thought, with limited experience, they should have been in the Intermediate or Advanced run group but their experience determined otherwise.

Now, if I may, let me toot MVP's horn a little. We've sold out every event, except one in Oklahoma, since we began doing track days in 2006. We must be doing something right. Are we perfect? Goodness NO, but we give drivers a good value with lots of track time for their entry fee.

If you have any questions, I am available at (314) 249-3770 or Feffman@MVPTrackTime.com. Happy Motoring and I hope to see you at the track.

We had a Midwestern Monsoon (hail and all) on Saturday which eventually cleared.

Sunday was nothing short of perfect. Lots of track time no accidents, albeit one scare with a Porsche that spun forcing a Lotus to spin but no car to car contact.

Thanks for the reply. I will likely be enrolling in your November event at Road Atlanta. I appreciate your frankness and willingness to address my concerns.

As I've grown older, single barrel Bourbon has become a necessity after a day at the track. Blanton's for special occasions and Evan William's Single Barrel for days that needed to be more special than they actually were. And my poor humidor hasn't had me visit much since 2007 when housing tanked. I'm certain the two are related.

Thanks again.

We (www.MVPTrackTime.com) have a limited number of slots in the Novice run group for July 7-8 at Road America. I hope the Miata ForumZ drivers will join us at Road America for a lot of on-track fun.

Registration for this or any of our 2012 track events is available at:

You really excel at picking dates where I am already committed! I will actually be outside of Green Bay camping then.

Enjoy, I'll be there in October!

We aim to please (HA, HA). Hope to see you in October. Historically that's been a great event with (Knock on wood) great weather.
