96 Miata M edition
1996 Mazda Miata M edition. M edition vehicles for 96 came with Starlight Mica Blue paint, Tan Leather seat and carpets, tan top, Nardi Shift ****, leather wrapped steering wheel, Torsen Limited Slip Differential, Anti Lock Brakes.
Vehicle has 146K miles and originally from Woodland Hills, Southern California. Previously owned by a lady and driven daily. I purchased on December 2007. Vehicle was all original when I purchased and clean. My definition of a clean vehicle is no accident, no bondo or repaints, clean chassis with no bends, original paint, original glass, not modified or cut anything for modification etc etc. This vehicle is all that. Had the original suspension which was worn and every time you brake it nose dives. Vehicle came with lot of maintenance history from previous owner although no evidence of timing belt or water pump done. So I immediately replaced timing belt, water pump, drive belts, crank seal, cam seals, CAS seal, spark plugs and wires with all OE Mazda parts. At the same time transmission fluid and rear diff fluid change with Redline full synthetic gear oil. Car is briefly used in CA till November 2008 when I moved to Rochester, MN to be with wife. Miata was shipped to Rochester, MN in Nov. 08 and garaged before winter. Car is never driven in wet roads or snow in MN at all as I do not like salt spray under the car. Car was stored in my heated garaged under cover every winter. Only driven in Rochester area in sunny weather. In 2011 Spring, decided to change the worn suspension with Flying Miata V Maxx coilovers with 99-05 upper mounts. At the same time all control arm bushing was replaced with Energy Suspension Bushing. Full four wheel alignment performed right after. In 2012, Spring installed a Hard Dog Roll Bar. (See Pictures) Obtained another set of tan interior side panels and cut to fit around roll bar. Original side panels stored.
What I have done to the vehicle:
Timing Belt, water pump, crank seal, cam seals, CAS seal, spark plugs & wires replaced with OE parts
Trans and rear Diff oil changed with Redline Synthetic oil.
Flying Miata V Maxx Coilovers with 99-05 top upper mounts.
Energy Suspension Bushing in all control arms.
Prosport gauges for Oil Pressure, water temp and voltage.
Hard Dog Roll Bar.
Konig Flatout 15x8 offset +25 on Dunlop DZ101 tires. (original wheels come with car)
Front chin spoiler.
The Bad:
Car is 17 years old. Original paint has scratches dents and clear coat peeling. (from California sun)
Driver seat cushion is torn.
Dash has a crack where defroster holes are.
A/C does not hold charge. Being told this by previous owner. Never looked into it since it’s a convertible.
Asking price $5500 OBO clean california car
I have done all the work on the car including alignment myself so little bit about me. I am an ASE Certified Master Technician currently working at Mercedes Benz of Rochester, MN as a certified Technician. Before I moved to MN I lived went to school and worked in Southern California. I worked at KaazUSA as a lead Tech where I built three Drift cars for competition in D1 Grandprix Drift series and Formula D series.
More photos available via email if anyone is interested.
