Another unfounded Squeek that needs your help
Yes I to have a very noticable squeeeeeeking sound or metal against metal sound that started about two-three days ago. The noise seams to be coming from the passenger side front wheel area .I thought it was a front wheel bearing but after several hours of intense reading here I have determined that its not the wheel bearings.
I have a 1990 5 speed with 134xxx miles, a very very small coolant leak behind the water pump and has been that way for several months. The leak doesn't appear to be getting on the belt and all the belts seem to be in good shape and have good tension. (water pump, timing belt, camshaft seal, crankshaft seal, cas seal, both A/C & Alt Belts will be replaced next month)
The high squeeking noise will start at 15phm and seams to be constant like something turning but doesn't seam that loud the faster I go but the wind is drowning it out I am sure.
The minute I slow down and get below 15mph the noise is gone. I can let it sit in the driveway and rev it up the RPM's and can't here the squeeking.
I have tried applying the brakes and clutch during speeds above 15mph with no change in the noise.
I would like some advise from those of you who have experienced the same problems or know what the problem could be. I want to fix it but don't want to waste time fixing things that don't need fixed due to up coming expense of the water pump/timing belt that is planned/scheduled for November and those of you who are familar with the cost for those of us who can't do the work our selves.
Thanks for your time and any advise you can give
