Default Modify or Not

Would you modify a 1990 Miata with hardtop in pristine condition or keep in original condition - only change is ac to 134. Thanks.

first off welcome to the forum, and also springfield is relatively close to where i am so if you want to see what its all about we can probably work something out. but on most of my vehicle i change things in a way so that they can be reverted back to stock if need be.

cool, feel free. also look into the buckeye miata club, they do monthly meetings, get togethers and cruises. as well as monthly autocross during the good weather season.

I don't really think it's like if you hold onto it, it'll be worth substantial money 40 years from now. Maybe if it was a special edition of sorts.

I bought a 1990 a year ago and started to modify it. Lowered, sway bars, air intake , quick shifter, brakes and stainless brake lines, Lower headlights, kick butt stereo.
I love the car , but it gets very expensive once you start going through that Moss catalog, trust me.
I have spent over double what the car cost me, so far.I figure by the time I get what I want on the car I'll have about 10K in it. and I'd be lucky to get 5 or 6 for it. and that doesn't include a turbo.
So think about whether you want to start down that road,, hehe..
Good luck and post pictures !

I would modify the suspension for improvements, however, I wouldn't mess with cars appearance too much. Tasteful mods are OK. Not to discourage you but if its just your daily driver then I wouldn't spend to much on it. There is really no value on a 90-97 model miata. Even if it's R package or M edition. But some crazy people will try to sell a high mileage miata with dent and dings, for more than what it's worth.

Now, if its something that you will keep for a while, then fire away. You will end up spending a good amount of money to have it the way you want it, but it should be worth it. Do what you need to do. These miatas are really cheap to maintain compared to other cars.
