Greetings! my first post on a new forum. Ive been apart of clubprotege for awhile now and decided to take a new route with a miata as a project. I bought the 1999 miata 3 months ago with a rod knock.

I pulled the engine, rebuild it and now it will not start. Sometimes it hickups then backfires but no start. I checked and double checked timing and had a friend look at it. Its dead on.

there is spark, it reeks of fuel, and timing is on. Im stuck haha

I cant find the plug for the knock sensor.

Also i had to drill and tap a hole to mount my crank position sensor, im wondering if this has something to do with no start?

Possibly. Did you set the gap to within the specs the sensor is needing?
