i cant pass the broomstick test in my car, so i stay off the track. makes me sad, i wonder what they would say if it put a 5 point harness with no seat. it is actually almost perfect, if it didnt hurt every bump.

It isn't typically expensive for an auto upholstery shop to replace just the center sections of the seats and re-use the edge vinyl. I'd get a couple of quotes on that.

My tan leather seats were uncomfortable and needed to be repadded before I removed them.

I did get one quote. They wanted 400-500 per seat to add some padding in the bottom and recover with new material, reusing the vinyl as you said. This was a regular upholstery shop and not one that specialized in automotive applications. Even though the guy has been in the business for 40+ years I don't think he did many car seats. When he used the word "experiment" I decided that wasn't the option for me. Experimenting is one thing. Me footing the bill for his schooling is quite another.

To your point though I should get a few more quotes to get a fair assessment of the cost. Thanks.

Dang, that's pricey. I want to redo the suede on my RX-7, but not at those prices.
