newb looking for a miata
hey guys my name is Nick and i want a miata! i am in rockland county NY. i have been lurking a few sites and trying to google and gather info. i am looking to replace my current DD. i have a truck that is sorta my toy so i like to keep miles off it and not spend mega bucks on gas. so i am looking for a fun to drive DD i figured the miata is perfect. seems to be a reliable car that is still lots of fun. any important info on what to look for and what years to try to get and what to stay away from. i am looking for something 3k or less and it MUST be 5 speed. dont care what color. it would be nice if it had a couple mods already done as my plan is to slowly turn it to a street/track car. i know the 1.8 is a better motor to get. i would love to get a 94 or 94 1.8 with the torsen rear. any help would be great!
here are a few i have been looking at so far. let me know what u think
1. 93 white http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...nal&listType=1
2. 94 red Used Cars Newark NJ | Newark Used Car Dealers | Brick City Motors | Oops!
3. 90 red 1990 Mazda Miata MX-5
i looked at #3 it runs great but needs an air bag module, driver side headlight motor and absolutely needs a top. where can i find the best price on a new top with rain rail?

Mods- Greddy kit with a mitsubishi TD-04h turbo with 30k miles and no shaft play, ebay exhaust, rx 460cc/min injectors, newer Fuel pump, Megasquirt Engine managment, LC-1 Wideband, 1.8 brake upgrade with stainless steel braided hoses and ebc redstuff pads, Flyin Miata stage 1 clutch with the 10lb flywheel.
Thats all i can remember off the top of my head. but its set up fairly well.
Asking $3700

94-up had larger brakes and stronger differentials but those things can be swapped one year for another as a bolt-in. The 1.6 and 1.8 are both strong engines with forged crankshafts and are reliably capable of over two times the stock power on stock internals with the addition of a turbo and supporting modifications. With forged rods and pistons either will do 300+whp if asked.
