Newbie from Alaska
Been in Navarre,Fl. 7 years. Before that 33 years in the little state of Alaska. This is my 2nd 2006 in about 3 -4 weeks.A nice young lady was yelling at her kids and ran stop light and totaled me.
This Miata seems to have a fluctuation of rpms up and down while cruising at 50. Kinda bugs me. Starving for fuel? Maybe new fuel filter?
Thanks to anyone with a guess

If your maintaining road speed but engine speed fluctuates you could have a number of problems. We need more info. Is it just the Tach. needle going up and down or do you actually hear the Engine RPM going up and down? Is it a Standard shift or an automatic? If its just the Tach. you could just need to change the Tach cable. If not and its a standard shift your clutch could be slipping. If its an automatic you could be low on transmission fluid.

This might be beyond my knowledge. Just to clarify. Your telling me that you hear the engine speed change but the Tach stays the same? What about your road speed? Do you feel any change with that at all. Does it feel like you are going faster as the engine speed increases and then go slower as the engine speed decreases? I'm assuming that the speedometer stays at 50mph the whole time.

You may want to post this in another part of the forum. Try under general discussion or under the forum for you Miata's generation. For you I think that would be the NC forum. Third one from the top on the main forum page. You will probably find people there who are more knowledgeable than I to help you with your problem.

It is a wavering of the engine noise...it is "slight"...no car surge.
I don't think it is a big deal probably...tranny and diff fluids both changed but still does it...could be rag top vibrating...
Thanks Rich
