If Tim looked at CR.net as a business, then he did exactly what he should have. Sold it for the most profit.

If it was a community to him, then that's another story.

Sort of surprised that people are saying sell out and are angry?

Guess I don't understand the politics. Seems like no impact to pretty much everybody from the perspective of a daily user. The members make the community what it is.

He sold the site a year ago. This is the second sale, looks like this time he just actually went through with it.

Tim Allen is shady.

Tim wasnt spending much on hosting, I know.

Well I agree y8s. But, I think Tim Allen could have offered it to the staff for a price, or perhaps to Gary F or even Brain & I. Profit is important when you are running out the door but you can sacrifice some profit to leave the site in the family.

When Tim sold me the site he was cashing out pretty good. Infact, it was so good I had to ask him to prove the numbers he was chalking up cause even I was astonished and the dollars he pulled.

What I think really happened was that he knew Gary F and or MT could have got CR. But even back in the day he was only interested in ensuring his legacy and that when he embarks on his real life he will always be known as the best independent owner of CR and though he got paid by VS, they will in turn be villains. Look at the threads now, its exactly what he wanted. He looks like the poor hero who had to sell out to big corporate Canada.

Tim Allen may have had a valid reason to sell but I think he went about doing it the wrong way. Id be curious to know how many moderators he offered the site to at a discount....I bet 0.

Other than that I take no real issue with him selling, it was his site, his rules, his time and effort he got paid for. Hopefully he give a kick back to the staff who got him there because without them, hes just a man who stole an actors name.

Well, personally I think Tim is a bit of a bottom feeder white trash pos. But that's only because his word isn't worth . Should they be mad he sold, not really. They certainly shouldn't be mad at the people who bought it. Tim Allen is the one who sold, if people have a gripe it should be with him right now though that will change little, there is no going back.

Tim has already been silenced over there. This migration and change over goes very fast, VS uses a technical discovery so that things go very quick..... Domain Transfer takes less than 30 minutes, migration takes Tim no time since they handle it all. The only reason I can see people being mad at Tim Allen right now is because he cares so much about the community but doesn't have the sense to reply and or didn't have the sense to talk to some of the staff before selling to them....again, his site and people should be happy that he gave them a platform to play on.

As for change. It may or may not come with VS. On a site I am very familiar that they kept it "the same" which included an increase of 9 ad positions above and beyond what was already there. They arent horrible ad positions so I certainly wouldn't say they impact the community in a negative way. However, site support will be limited or next to nothing once things get rolling again. We are talking about 2-4 people who work 9-5 handling 140+ forums at VS. It will be key for VS to have amazing staff in place on CR for the site to keep running smooth. Its totally possible. VS isn't the devil but they can be the building owner who doesn't fix stuff who literally lets the tenants walk out.

People are upset because they thought Tim was in it for more than the money and that proved to be false. I've honestly never really been a huge fan of CR. It was a good place to buy things and a good place to see some nice pictures but other than that it honestly felt pretty lifeless to me. I've been a member of a lot of forums, and I've been a mod on some as well. Out of all of my posts on CR I don't think anyone ever responded to a single thing I said. No one even bothered to comment on my project thread, which in my opinion is pretty lame. Especially considering the fact that if I had 1500 to spend on wheels the thread would have blown up.

I'm thinking with the smaller member base here it'll be much better. I also think there will be a flood of people here and the other forum, the name of which I cannot remember, but with both options there the crowd will eventually arrange itself in a comfortable configuration and both forums will likely do just fine.

I already like it here more.

Well put,

Seems shady him getting aggressive with donations though towards the end, chances are he knew this was coming for sometime....

Yea, CR is very lame unless you fall in the strict category of expensive jdm wheels and Teins.

With that said, I am not so sure there will be a large flood of people over here. I certainly think the flooding that happened last night to mazdaroadster was due in large part to people reading fooschnickens and python's posts about how CR was ruined. Include all the I was posting about VS and how they have a big tendency to ruin forums, either by changing rules, increasing ads, or jumping up sponsorship fees.

One thing you are right about though, is that this forum is small and its pretty solid. Generally, we get along, and I think most people speak on personable basis rather than internet *****-sizing.

I have a tendency to be random and obnoxious sometimes, so excuse me...
