Default Used piston question..

What would be a fair price on a set of used JE pistons and forged rods?

Used for 2000 miles, pistons have new rings.

(I am not the seller, just interested in buying if the parts check out..)

ooo, interesting question. I couldn't really tell you, (I am speculating here) but I personally wouldn't buy them for any more than 25% of the brand new price... as long as they looked like they were in good shape and did not have to deal with any detonation.

I would be paranoid about any damage or abuse they went through that doesn't show up physically. but the chances would be low due to the low miles.

I would question why they pulled them out with such few miles, then go toe trouble of installing new rings just to resell them.
If the rings are the same ones that were run for 2000 miles then I would not call them new and doubt I would use them.
Not sure if you could have the pistons and rods magnufluxed or anything to show any cracks and if you did it may be costly.
Like Track I would not pay much for them

Rods would be ~60-75% of new and pistons around 50-60%. New, unused rings could go for ~80% of new. New rings that had been installed and used for 10 miles are junk and need to be replaced. Rings should be replaced every time they are removed from the bores after a break-in. Sometimes people reuse them but that doesn't mean it is a good idea. They only break-in properly once.
