So made some progress today.. im thinkin all the oil the old turbo was blowing through the intake side may be why the engine failed.. all the plugs were just covered in oil.. yet 3 of 4 cyl had good compression.. anyways heres some pics of where im at... engine going in 2marr0...

Custom turbo brace made out of some random bracket and a lil blue tip wrench to bend it into the proper position...

Ok sucess! New engine in.. running good, fresh clutch, feels like an all new car! No boost yet... still breakin it in.. trying to properly seat these piston rings.. Fired right up, no smoke, no leaks, nothing to tweak. But even with no boost this motor feels mighty strong cant wait to start boosting the lil bastard. Not sure how long i should wait.. I know i gotta go easy on the new clutch for atleast 200mi so ill probly start putting a lil boost to her at that point. Anyhow me happy! Got me a good running miata again.. alls i got left to do is wire up the wideband 2marr0 at work..

Awesome news man! Nothing works the first time for me, I usually have to do it about 3 times to get it right.

Awlright 125 miles on the new engine... itchin for boost bad! Shes runnin good though.. The engine actually sounds different when cranking to start it.. i now know what a 1.6l with some compression sounds like cranking lol! Prolly thursday ill have over 200 miles and ill start running some low boost to her.. Got the aem wbo2 installed yesterday..

Next on the mod list is going to be btwn 2 things depending on if i can sqeeze over 10psi safely out of my setup.. if its not happening than megasquirt is next on the list. If i can get 10psi or better than im looking at a set of apexi n1 coilovers... just impatiently trying to be patient till i can start boostin this new engine...

Well my stupid mani cracked again already... I specifically fabbed that brace rod up so it wouldnt happen again... but it did. Cracked on he opposite side of the turbo flange from where i welded it up! FML! Oh well i can deal with that... atleast its just a stupid weldable crack, better than a smoking engine with no compression thats for sure.

Boost will be starting 2marr0

Update: running out of fuel around 10psi.. gona have to do something bout that soon.. (ms maybe adaptronics, bigger injectors) Anyhow turned her down to 8psi. Was running good.. doin some full boost pulls on i75 today to make sure af ratios were good and started hearing a wierd noise, sounded like a loud intake growl. Then i pulld off the eway and all of a sudden a bad rackety clackety Rear end is done! Pulled the driveshaft thinking it was a ujoint but no go. I think the pinion gear broke a tooth off... On the hunt for a rear end now... thinking torsen unless i find a vlsd for really cheap so i can instanly blow it out. Once again trying to keep up with dem is just a bad idea lol!
