Default 1999 Miata - GT2560R @ 16psi

old setup

1999 Mazda Miata
Stock engine
GT2506R @15-16psi
DIYPNP
550cc RX7 injectors
Devil's Own Meth/water injection
ARTech manifold
ARTech 3" downpipe and exhaust
CXRacing "George foreman grill" FMIC

Did 3 runs. First was in 3rd gear and didn't include it in the printout, it made 263whp. Probably about a 1 minute break between each pull. No fan or anything in front of the car (looking back I should have made them set something up). Car kept making more power each pull.

Some of you may remember my boost creep issue... still not perfect. Tried to flatten boosted out with EBC, but it's less than ideal. Going WOT at 2500rpm like this, the boost will hit 11-12psi intially, then easy up and hold 15-16 most of the way and creeps about 1psi past 6000. This helps hold some of the power past peak I'm sure...but maybe not, might be outflowing the turbo at this point.

275whp/258wtq SAE Corrected

275 on stock internals and 5-spd? You haven't blown anything up?

Motor been great....5 speed, not so much. While I look for a 6 speed, motor is out at the moment getting built. (now with GT2871 and lots of other changes)

at 258rwtq, he was at the upper limits of the rods; that's about all I'd push. If it was tuned safely with margin of error for knock, then it's probably last a long while at that power.

5sp seems to have already let go, was it abused?

How could you not abuse it alittle here and there

This gives me hope on my anticipated build. I was shooting for ~200 rwhp with a little room for growth. I didn't want to build a motor up yet. If you don't mind me asking, what are you budgeting to build your new motor?

5 speed had 130k miles on it- not abused as far as I know prior to me....and nah I didn't "abuse" it, didn't even get around to racing/autox.

I had the GT2871 @ 14psi when it blew.... well, gauge said 14, MAP sensor in MS said a little bit more, which confused the hell out of me, because both the sensor and MS were using the same MAP for reference. I'll be getting a MAP daddy here shortly. But yeah, bottom line is I'm not sure how much powa it was taking when it did go, but I would guesstimate close to what it did with the 2560. Probably less torque, but who knows.

Sucks, cuz I am not looking forward to the 6 speed gearing with even more power.

5 speed/3.9 rear end was actually really nice.
