Adjustable Exhaust Cam Gear
On my '00 that I planned to host next winter, is it worth it to put on an adjustable exhaust cam gear? I'll have the time belt off to inspect the water pump, and wonder if it's worth adding that in while it's all apart.

if you plan to adjust timing alot in the future, but if your just going to set it and go i wouldn't mess with it.

the problem comes up when you want a 99 intake cam gear and have to spend big bucks on the ------- toda. |
I have a Mazda Speed intake cam in there, an adjustable cam gear doesn't work with the intake side does it? I thought I could only adjust the exhaust with the 99 -00.
|
nah, you can do both. its just that the intake cam needs notches for the hall effect sensor to work. I don't know exactly, here is a thread I have kept saved for when the time comes:
(has a list of miata cam gears, some may work with the intake side on the 99. FOR SURE the toda one does) http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=392202 |
Thanks yet again track. I'm also stealing lots of ideas from your build. We are doing a lot of the same. I picked up a used 03 front bumper as well. Going to use the fog lights for my NACA ducts. I think I'll be doing a oil cooler this year. May hold off on that and just do the coolant reroute this year though.
