btw, I can make you a video of my stock OPG functioning. I still haven't put in a number'd OPG to "calibrate" mine with, but I have it sitting in my garage for when I get the time.
Lastly, the temp mod is linear and its accurate. I have checked with my scangauge and the numbers are shown in the thread for the resistor biasing values chosen. I am thinking of using a stock water temp gauge (linearized) in place of the OPG for oil temp, and then having an aftermarket OPG in my set of gauges with warning light on it. |
I hate you for making my choices all that more difficult. :)
|
lol, true. But I can't help but want to keep the stock gauges, they are free and require no more than 5 dollars in parts from radioshack.
I would love to get my hands on some more OPGs that people don't want, it will give me some stuff to experiement with removing the damping fluid without unwinding the gauge. It requires making a hole in the delrin case and then setting the gauge in acetone for a a bit of time, then use compressed air with the needle on to spin the gauge at extreme speeds to get the liquified grease out. Its just a ------- bitch to get it all out and while I have succeeded doing it on two gauges, I haven't been able to without completely removing the rear of the gauge and having to reattach/seal that so the needle doesn't fall off its track. |
Linear water temp mod looks like it's very easy and straight forward (easier and cheaper than OPG i mean) based on the writeup on your sig?
If that's the case, then it's looking like my best option may be do that, plus a VEI dual gauge for oil pressure and temp and throw it in the 1 open spot I'll still have on the A pillar. 3 external gauges......not the most OEM/stealthy look, but not too terrible either. |
you can send me your OPG if you like and I will modify it for you. the OPG linear mod is almost exactly the same as the water temp. one, its just degreasing the gauge is a pain.
its ------ useless as is anyways. And yes, the linear temp. mod is in my sig. |
thanks for the comments/advice guys...props given.

Here's what I'm rocking right now, I should add oil temp sometime soon

i tried LEDs in my gauge cluster......all uneven lighting and looks like ----. any pointers?
|
remove the plastic film that is used for light distribution.
|
I really like that modified gauge cluster. I will be adding some gauges soon, I want it to look as stock as possible.
I may just end up mounting it in the center console thing (I really want to remove the OEM radio and put in something that is single DIN anyways) since it's not a track car and I can look down while driving fairly easy. |
