Simpson Design Italia 2

I have to say I am really liking Simpsons new design. Hot stuff though not suitable for purists. Too bad it's for NB's only.

The bodywork pales in comparison to that hardtop. That is an incredible hardtop. Love love love it.

The new Italia is pretty good though. The front and rear overhangs seem shorter than the NA version.

There is something that bugs me about it. and I think it starts with the presence of flares on the fenders. the bodywork should be smooth and wider than the wheels.

I like the front and side of the car but I am really not liking the rear for some reason.

Needs better wheels, something that complements the design.

same. like the actually, hate the rear. HT is painted odd, but I like it, maybe with out the side windows I'd like it better.

And $10,000???

You could do a V8 swap with that...

That Ferrari is pure sex though...

wannafbody 08-04-2011 09:01 PM

I think some of the angles are too sharp for the overall body shape

I did say it wasn't for purists. According to their website they plan on making a removable targa top for people who want to make their car a coupe. The coupe conversion has to be done at their shop though.

turbotyla 08-17-2011 07:26 PM

i like it and i love the simpson hard top is awesome too.

Tallgeese 08-17-2011 07:40 PM

I would buy a targa top in a heart beat. In fact, it's been a plan of mine for a while to make one if other alternatives don't surface.

Also, I like the Italia 2....sort of. I'd definitely swap my motor into one if I had the option.

I kept looking for a used first generation Italia, never found and purchased this one. The wheels have grown on me. I did not like the steering wheel and swapped it out for a wood Nardi.

Pitcrew did it right.

I appreciate SD for their work but not for me

slug_dub 09-12-2011 04:49 AM

So now they have two new designs;

http://www.simpsondesign.net/italia2_gtc_promo.html

...which are better but still not great. Fastback coupe style.. pure win, except that it just doesn't look right. Both the front and the arse are real wrongbad. You make the nose or arse longer compared to stock and it throws out the whole proportion of the car. :bang:

Zel 09-13-2011 12:14 AM

I still lust after a shorty rear bumper.
