CMP Events in October

Alright guys, my next event(s) are coming up. I think the VIR-F w/ NASA-Midatlantic is a bit too soon for me, so I will be heading to both CMP events:

THSCC Fall Finale HPDE:
Oct 15-16
Carolina Motorsports Park (Kershaw, SC)
4 sessions - 25-30 minutes each (Amazing instructors w/ THSCC btw)
$375 (I can get you a $25 discount if this is your first event with THSCC)

NASA-SE Great Pumpkin Run:
Oct 22-23
Carolina Motorsports Park (Kershaw, SC)
4 sessions - approx. 20 minutes each
$269 (requires NASA membership $40ish)

I will be the green #7 Miata!

Whos going to join me?? I know some of you guys like going fast!

Are you running NASA HPDE? I am debating if I can afford it or not. The weekend before I will be up in VA at our annual NE Dyno Day.

well, there is a chance that the THSCC event might get cancelled. really disappointing tbh. If it does get cancelled then I am going to the NASA event for sure. I think I am going to go to it anyway just because I think CMP maybe our first event in 2012 and I will be doing TT and feel that it would be helpful to get some time to work out my line consistency.

I need to go into eating Ramen noodle mode for the next month so that I can afford the dyno day and then the weekend at the track. I would love to get 2 days out there. Should definitely be able to get down the line in that much time. I tend to turn in a bit to early, brake to heavily and to soon, and just generally need to be smoother.

oh yea, I think by the second day you can get signed off. CMP is pretty good place to practice your braking, its brake heavy track and it has a good mix of high-to-low and high-to-medium speed braking zones. Personally, I do my best to push the limits at corners where there is run-off that I can use if I don't get enough braking in, but if its harry, I will probably brake 50-100ft earlier than I need to depending on the speed difference. I can't drive my ass back home in a ball of steel.

What is your mod list shuiend?

I am not in a huge hurry to get signed off. I am just out having fun right now and learning. I could probably go out alone now and make it around the track safely, but I would end up not learning any more.

Here is a link to my build thread on miataturbo. Basically the run down is built motor, MS3x, Absurdflow setup with a 2871, Koni yellows and ground controls, 225 RS3, Momo supercups and G-force 6 point harnesses. Then I have most of the supporting mods that are needed.

The plan for the future is oil cooler, 15x9 6UL, sway bars and bushings, TSE brakes, ducting and aero.

very cool. looks great!

Yea, I am not either. Getting signed off at VIR was a ton of fun. Once you get the track basics, you can do quite a bit of learning still (surprisingly). I certainly did. Its a lot to do with balance, the miata gets a bit more tail happy without your instructor in the car. But you also carry more speed.

Anyways, try to make it out to CMP, it would be extra nice to meet the other sponsored miata!
