February South-East Track Events

Getting close to that time of the year. I have already planned my february event, and my march/april events are pending for now.

Here is a list of local events:

Feb. 11-12 - NASA-SE-CMP - Dntlift, Track, shuiend
Feb. 18-19 - NASA-MidAtl-VIR
Feb. 25-26 - Chin-Homestead/Miata:
Feb. 25-26 - BMWCCA-Tarheel-VIR:
THSCC was going to run a february event, but it was cancelled. TrackDaze is skipping February and AsphaultVentures has not updated their site. With that said, SCCA doesn't seem to have anything going on either? its so hard to navigate their chapter sites...

Track 01-01-2012 10:18 PM

BTW, I think I will be going to the CMP event. But I reallllly miss VIR and would love to take my car out there. I will make a decision with-in the next 10 days or so.

Dntlift 01-02-2012 12:36 AM

Is there any reason that vir is so much more expensive?

I would love to go to vir, never driven it, but I have been there on 3 occasions. such an awesome track! As long as I have money, Ill be signing up for cmp. I really need to get on the ball and figure that out though.

Track 01-02-2012 01:17 AM

VIR is a much nicer venue, just like Road Atlanta is much more expensive than CMP.

Dntlift 01-02-2012 01:15 PM

Eh, good enough. I just wasnt sure if it was a fri sat sun kinda deal or something, or whether it was just that its vir.

Dntlift 01-06-2012 01:10 PM

I are signed up for nasa cmp. Larrrssss. join us! :D

Track 01-13-2012 05:03 PM

bump, some of you fags need to get out here and show us what you got!

Dntlift 01-13-2012 09:27 PM

I know right? we need more occupiers!\

Maybe we should enlist at mt?

hey - give me a clue

CMP - Carolina Motor Park??, location???, website, cost, HPDE or competition, or both

VIR - Virginia International Raceway??, location???, website, cost, HPDE or competition, or both

Tarheel - somewhere in NC??, location???, website, cost, HPDE or competition, or both

-------------------------------------------
Music City Miata Club considering something in Birmingham in either Mar/Apr to replace the old Music City Mustang Club HPDE event at Nashville NASCAR track

thanks

yes, CMP is Carolina Motorsports parkway. Its in Kershaw SC, and depending on the club or attendees its between $275-$375 per event.

yes, VIR is Virginia International Raceway. VIR is more expensive, coming in at about $375-$450. Located on the NC/SC border, closest to Alton, VA.

If you sign up for HPDE, then its HPDE, otherwise your options are Wheel to wheel racing with NASA or TT (both NASA and THSCC). As for BMWCCA, I have no clue if they run TT or anything else, I have never run with them.

BMWCCA-Tarheel is the club and the chapter. For example, SCCA-SCR is SCCA club and South Carolina Region chapter. etc. etc.

Tarheel Sports Car Club is THSCC and yes Tarheel general refers to NC. I think BMWCCA-Tarheel is out of charlotte.

Come out to CMP!! You will have tons and tons of fun, and we can show you the ropes so you don't feel like a fob.

Track 01-16-2012 10:13 PM

Dntlift 01-16-2012 10:40 PM

I have no clue! A friend had it and we said fuggit. but it on the car. Its so god awfully loud. and the car didnt actually move anywhere, just rev a bit. Honestly its probably going to come off until february. well see though.

I hope everyone is ready for the 2012 season to start!! Even with my alignment woes, I am excited!

To add for your future-outlook cast... some clubs will fill up if you don't register the month or 2 before - like PCA. Which is good you started this thread in the beginning of Jan, Joe.
Nasa at RA Mar 9-11, Chin follows the Monday after - I'll be there doing the instructor clinic (not with Chin), with 6spd and 3.6 installed (novice reg for Chin is already full - wait list)
Chin at AMP *provisional* Apr 14-15 - IF they get it done, which I doubt they do, this will be a freaking insane counterclockwise course!
ReZoom at Barber end of April, lots of track time like Chin, just not as expensive.

Hoping to do a few HPDEs this year, definitely more next year. My friend and I will be shooting for TTD next year

FYI they just opened registration at NASA-FL for Sebring on March 31/April 1 and I have signed up. I'd love to see a few of you guys try to come down.

Sebring is even more fun than Road Atlanta in my opinion. It is 1.2 miles longer than Road Atlanta and has 5 more turns and some challenging corner series that leave you several ways to attack them. Since the track is longer you end up with a lot less traffic than I experienced at RA. It really spoiled me. I'm entertaining the idea of sharing a room if somebody wants to. And I might be able to put somebody up for the night on Friday. I have room for parking a big-ass truck-trailer combo if needed (looks at Bryan).

Thanks for the input Bryan, I hope to have the March events posted next week.

Not sure what your experience is, but if you are just starting out, I would push those TT hopes back a year. I was hoping to start TT on a similar time frame, and I am pretty sure thats just not possible. unless you plan to hit up 20-30+ hpde events in one year (which is very possible, we have a local here who has done that, complete with 2 blown engines and a kiss with the tire wall in that time).

Thanks Steve - but NOT going to happen - b/c Grand-Am will be in town and I have to meet my continental re-stock quota from RSR :)
But I'll take you up on that offer later ;)

sixshooter 02-05-2012 08:28 PM

Anybody else, lol?

Yeah that's what I meant. I'll have to go thru the HPDE process to get my TT license. So hopefully I'll be able to start TT in 2014.

Dntlift 02-06-2012 12:03 PM

yeah, sorry steve. No way that would be feasible anytime soon, perhaps when I have a real job, and im done with school. but its not in the works right now.
