Generation Comparison Test drives? First time driver of one!

Hello All,

I plan to purchase a Miata by July/ August and am really excited to do so. I am wondering if a few of you forum members would be willing to meet up with me so I can compare and contract a NA, NB, and possibly and NC. After much research, the vehicle I dream of is an NB2 in black cherry mica with a 6spd w/torsen! However I want to try an NA and NC of similar spec. I am 6ft tall and concerned... I want the NB but it might not actually be the model I like most performance/cockpit wise. That is why I am looking for some help and kindness to help me arrive at which model I will save up for. Thank you all in advance, I look forward to your replies!

P.S. I live in Dutchess County NY, 12594

Good luck with your quest. I'd let you sit in my NC, but it is still in storage. That and it's a few hundred miles away. :)

The cockpit room in the NC is pretty good for a person my size. Six foot tall and 180 pounds, but when I bought it I was tipping the scales at 230. It was still OK, just a little tight. I really don't have any seat time in the NA or NB, but I did get a short ride in a local Miata club member's ND. I thought the passenger seat of his car was really, really tight. I'm not sure if I would be able to tolerate a car that small, especially after having owned the NC for so long. If there should ever come a time where I am hankering for a different/newer Miata, I'll just go get another ride from that guy! At some point I may want a few more ponies, but rather than buy a different car I could always upgrade the motor. The 2.5 swap looks promising. The V8 may be too far out of reach for my budget, but man, oh man, would I love me an NC with a V8! :eek4dance: If that doesn't work I could always trade in my Escape for a Mustang convertible!
