SkyActiv-Mazda's next generation of powertrains.

The Mazda Sky Concept is the development concept for our next-generation powertrains to be introduced from 2011. The name "Sky" was adopted based on the following three ideas:

- The 'sky's the limit' aspirations of our engineers as they pursue optimal efficiency through unconventional thinking.
- To ensure everlasting blue skies.
- Our commitment to provide all our customers with pure driving pleasure which can be enjoyed under clear blue skies.

kinda of a gay, concept but more efficient. with 14:1 compression for both gas and diesel engines. mazda's answer to hybrids?

Everytime I hear the name I think of the Terminators and Skynet... lol

super high compression... sounds like honda + V_TAK!

I can just imagine mods for these engines are going to be a real f'in pain.

The engine looks solid though, they have some videos on the exhaust runner/collector setup and its pretty cool how they use it to help with running 14:1 compression.

also sounds like boost will result in zoom zoom boom.

I wonder how much head room their fancy anti-detonation tech has when it's already dealing with 14:1 compression ratio. Also sounds like this will need on helluva ems to work correctly... which mazda doesn't exactly have a great track record of good ems or factory tunes.

I expect hypervariable valve control for reducing dinamic compression ratio at high loads
