What was the reason for taking them off

I have a 93. The stock shocks needed new rubber boots so I bought 99 shocks so I could swap them and still run the car. I read they would be 2" too tall so I got the idea to lower it (they should bring it back to stock height). Once they were on it was lower than stock and the ride was too firm for me (I only rode about 5 miles to confirm this). So I went back to the stock 99 springs.
