Air intake question...

6 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, Julekpl again. I have purchased a MX6 626 Probe 2.2L Air Intake MAF Adapter +Filter off of ebay (I know, cheepo depot) and I am going to use my original intake throttle tube to connect it to this new filter. My question is, do I need to just throw out my old intake filter box, and put this tiny new filter in it's place? Yes, I am an amateur at this

Here are some pictures of what I am talking about, and the filter I bought:

just keep the old one for smog purposes.

but to instal the new blue filter, I need to remove the old box one correct?

I used to have that intake way back. Anyways, remove the black box and screw the silver adapter to the trap door sensor. When you finish screwing on the four screws just put the cone on and clamp it. You can feel a slight airflow improvement in the upper rpm. I got 1.5hp out of it.

alright, parts have been ordered, and in the mean time, working to get that pesky radio out.

Is it alright if the air intake cone is kind of close to the engine? It wont overheat I hope...

There will be heat soak from the Exhaust Manifold. This is why most non OEM intakes are modified to be right behind the headlight, or routed through the upper corner of the firewall.
