Lightened the car. smaller wallet, 2800 lighter for air bag, brain( not mine car's) alternator, coils, cam sensor. 550 for timing belt and other, 180 for radio. I didn't want a 7 grand plus 94. Thought about making a flaming suicide but while I have gas, the cigarette lighter doesn't work. Second thought is shinny red litter box but the cat hates it.

Wow, you need to learn how to find parts on the cheap. You could have gotten all that for just a few bucks.

Miatas are extremely popular for turning into race cars, so there are a ton of non essential parts like airbags, radios, and ECUs. In the future, check out this and other forums for parts. They are there, lots of them.

That sucks, sorry for the bad experience. Miata2Fast is right though. There over a million of these cars on the road, and tons of Used Miata Parts dismantlers. I'm partial to partsgroup.com. If you hate the car enough, try killing it with wide open throttle on a nice twisty road. You'll probably learn to love it again.

Start on Amazon with some of Keith Tanner's Miata books. These cars are pretty easy to work on to save yourself some money. I did my own timing belt change with that book. Took me a weekend on my first try, but would be way easier now.

I agree. There are a lot of parts available, used new or aftermarket. And these cars really are easy to work on. I put a new top on my NA in less than a day. The tools you need are really minimal for most of the stuff I've seen.

And you get the enjoyment of knowing you did it yourself.

In a pinch there are probably quite a few owners in your area who could lend a hand.
