Beating coolant reroutes like a dead horse! Cause we dont have enough of these on MT
 

Alright, Im wanting to set up my coolant in a way that is similar to what others have done, but at the same time I havent seen anyone quite do it this way. I am posting this hoping that a few of you would be able to point me in the right direction as far as things go that I feel like I have read in the past and cannot find now. As well as a few suggestions/ ideas.

So soon my car will be running a ms ran bp (94) motor in it. The motor will begin na until I aquire the funds to go turbo, and my plan is to use a reroute with that in mind. I want to use the 99 water neck on the back of the head.

I would use the bolt above the coolant port for my ecu temp sensor, and the port on the left (not visible) for my gauge temp sender. My plan to keep coolant flowing during warmup is to use the port on the right, running through the heater core and back into the mixing manifold. And the coolant port on the side of the block will be saved for the turbo lines when that comes into play.

My problem is, what would be my best option to get coolant from this port on the back to the heater core. I feel like I read somewhere that this port is a press fit, but it is very difficult to remove from the head and thus not worth the risk. I do not like the idea of drilling the end out and cutting off the smaller port because I think that would be asking for leaks.

In my mind this leaves me with three other options, find some sort of rubber hose that magically grows as it goes. Use expensive an fittings and make it work (still involves finding a way to get a an fitting on that port). Or use small hose, then an adapter, then larger hose into the heater core. None of these sound like truly good plans either to be honest.

What are everyones thoughts/ideas on the matter?

PS: I have plans to put an external oil cooler on the car once turbo'ed, and I lack the oem one, hence why I am not planning on hooking that up. And I really want to have heat for next winter (no defrost sucks)

You can run a small heater hose from the front of the engine 'water neck' all the way back to the heater core...but exhaust is right in the way. I looked into doing a cheap reroute like this, but I ended up just biting the bullet and getting the Begi spacer, and it's worked great, nice clean install. I'd recommend doing that... overall still a cheap project, there's an auto parts store rubber hose that fits perfect from the back of engine to rad.

Brain I was kinda trying to avoid that as well if possible, How difficult is it to tap that spot? It really looks rather unpleasant...

And do use the $12 Kia neck and the $17 Escalade hose. Don't make it hard when easy is pretty damn cheap. It would be different if it cost $300 to do this but it doesn't.

Others that have used the little water outlet to feed their heater core have complained about cold winters... It has about 1/3 the internal diameter available for flow of the original outlet.

Bear in mind, I currently do not have heat whatsoever. Anything is better than what I currently have. Also bear in mind that if all fails, I will end up with some form of reroute, and that I was just trying to find a simpler way to to things with already existing options.

Also, I currently have the kia neck, what/ if anything is wrong with the 99 neck? If I remember correctly the kia neck does not clear properly without a spacer.

Why don't you have heat?

If that's the 99 neck pictured above then you will need to build a hose/piping arrangement from scratch. I guess you could go over the engine or intake with it. Whatever you do will need a good way to burp it at its highest point. I was trying to suggest what might be the least difficulty for you 'cause we're pals and I don't wish for your life to be difficult.

my heater core exploded on my leg two years ago. I finally bother'ed to get a new heater core not too long ago. and when I do the 1.8 swap it will go in as well. With the 99 neck I was planning on running it either over or through the intake manifold, I am aware that I will need a way to burp the coolant, still figuring something out for that as well. we will see what I come up with.

I appreciate the concern for the difficulty though! which is part of the reason I brought it up at all.
