I know people use those and they work.

I am going to cough up the extra monies for a FM Stage 1

Heard nothing but awesome about these.

sirbrit 05-10-2012 01:36 PM

may i ask why u choose that one

jtpaintballwdp 05-10-2012 01:41 PM

Mainly because I know it will hold the power I will want to make, and the reviews I have heard from everyone have been nothing less than stellar.

Clutch pedal also apparently feels like stock.

Also FMs customer service cant be beat.

ahhh, gud to know.. i dont know about goodwin, never dealt with them

RedTurboMiata 05-10-2012 08:39 PM

goodwin is fairly good from what i hear, fm is awesome. the stage one kit is on my car, and i wouldn't hesitate to use another.
Also, while your doing the clutch do the clutch master and slave and replace all the fluid.

good-win is a legit company...but I bet you can find an Exedy stage I for less elsewhere.

What sort of power are you looking out of the car? That clutch is decent, but depending on power goals, I'd lean towards the FMI or ACT HD.

sirbrit 05-11-2012 09:07 AM

My plan is to do the basic turbo you talked about, around 5 psi.

MF-Brain 05-12-2012 06:50 AM

the exedy will suffice...i'd still prefer an fmI--best bang for the buck clutch for sure.

sirbrit 05-13-2012 05:37 PM

well i think i will go with the fm 1 then, thanks

jtpaintballwdp 05-13-2012 09:15 PM

I think you are making a good choice!

Ok.. FM1 clutch and flywheel installed. cant believe how much difference it makes, pilot bearing was going out...

here are the differences that I have noticed so far. I do have to push the clutch pedal closer to the floor to shift gears, quite a bit further actually but this is stated clearly to be one of the changes so all gud..

Now the flywheel has made a difference in the rev's. I do have to rev a little higher to maintain the same speed thru 1st 2nd and 3rd. not really noticeable in fourth, but very noticeable 1st to 2nd.

I am happy with it tho.

thanks for the advice

oh, side effect.. the speedometer cable got shifted somehow and ended up on a tube coming from underneath the manifold cover. Melted a hole in it. no speedo.. called em back and they said they would order it and fix it no charge. nice huh, didnt even ask to see it..lol

RedTurboMiata 06-16-2012 09:31 AM

roll in under the dash and adjust the clutch, IIRC you need a 10mm open end wrench.

^ What he said. Pedal height is adjustable.

sirbrit 06-16-2012 08:45 PM

ok thanks, just found the instructions

sureshot 06-19-2012 09:29 AM

Warning - turbo's are addictive. You will probably want more boost before long.

sirbrit 06-19-2012 10:13 AM

lol, I know. but there's a lot to them.. luckily the folks on here have been great so, I think when I start down that path. all will be ok.. hopefully
