diagnostic box
does anyone know if the SGND and the GND in the diagnostic box are actually the same thing ?
I see all the pics and info says jump out TEN and GND ,yet everything pints or shows the SGND and Ten so just wondering if they are two different pins or are they the same thing |
signal ground vs ground.
both ground, just to different locations. |
I would assume a Signal ground would be a ground for a sensor, or something sending a signal. A regular ground would be something for a motor (IAC, Fuel Pump, etc..).
I could be wrong, but at least it makes sense. |
I took both of them were the same just wanted to double check
|
I will say that when I use S-GND it didn't allow me to go into open-loop for setting idle. but when I used GND, open-loop worked just fine.

Being a 99 there may actually be a difference in the two pin locations not sure though |
the pinout for NB is different from the NA. you can see both in the "How-to: intake manifold.." in my sig.

Track I read your article and that is really good, the only thing I think you have wrong is the diagnostic box labeling the one marked for NB is the NA and the one marked NA is for the NB.

I just went out and looked at my 96 ,the difference in it and the one below is I have SGND on the left where it has GND
here is a 94 diag box 1.8 http://forum.miata.net/vb/attachment...chmentid=78406 here is a 96 http://gnu.20m.com/miata/miata.html here is a 97 http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=409119 here is the 99 http://miatas.livejournal.com/47206.html I don't say they all do or not do the same function I have no idea Just know both of our 96 looks like the pic of the 96 I did read that both SGND and the GND in a 99 is different than the 97 and earlier ,it is two different functions in the 99 |
