EGR Gasket

Can anyone tell me which direction the gasket should go on a 96 Miata. The area around the holes in the gasket are indented . I know the pointed side goes up, Does the 96 even get a gasket. The package shows up to a 95 yet it shows a part # for a 96 I removed both egr valevs and neither car has the gasket
any help would be appreciated

When I first looked you had just "111" written. Then you edited it.

Mine had no gasket.

Oh ok now I understand. I wonder why it calls for one and yet seems it is left off of some cars. I would think air would or could be sucked in between the valve and the intake . It does not look like a machined fit but then again who knows
I have an egr not ready monitor so thought that may be were the problem is .
I have done all the drive cycles and all the cleaning that can be done as well as replaced the egr booster and egr valve

for anyone interested from what I found out yes a 96 does have an EGR gasket and it goes on with the raised side of the gasket toward the intake . It is used more for taking care of any imperfections in the valve or the intake

I think it's random. I definitely did not have a gasket on mine. (97)

What is really odd ,you look it up for a 96 and there is the gasket and the part number
When you receive it the package has 93-95 on it. You are correct neither of mine had it either. I did contact two dealerships and both say it should be on there and how to install so I did.
did not fix my problem but it is on there

I have a gasket on the 99. and it really only goes one way... No gasket and it would probably leak. which is a shitty place to leak with the coilpack right there.

The one for mine could easily go either way, there is not a thing to show that it would go one way or the other, which made it confusing. After getting it I thougt it should go one way since it had the stamped indention in it
When looking both the egr valve and the back of the intake surfaces are smooth so that was no help. Then I had the bright idea of pullingtheone from the other 96 to look at it and it did not have one either.
