You don't need them on the sides aside from theft. It's also a good way to get into your car if you ever lock the keys in there.

Get these for the sides and use bolts to reduce theft chances:

I like having my side latches. I wouldn't run without them, but I know some people do.

To the OP - I have an extra set of strikers you can have for the cost of shipping - PM me.

That being said - I have the strikers because I switched to the brackets and I prefer the brackets. When removing the hard top, I only remove the bolts attached to the car. The brackets and bolts that attach to the hard top stay mounted.

Just for more info - you can actually use a toplock with either method - I have this lock on my CF hardtop and sleep easier because of it.

Essentially it blocks the latch from opening or it blocks bolts (bracket) from being removed on one side.

sorry for the late response. girlfriend has my laptop for school so I only have use at the shop.
very smart to have things locked, however in my small town, im the only guy that actually has a hard top on his miata, i don't think all the old guys really want it.
i'll deffinately take them for the price of shipping. pm me for what details you desire.

I lost a perfect hardtop a half mile from home the night I bought it because of a pothole. Not my first HT and the latches were on correct, just didnt have side latches. Blew off the car at 30 mph and smashed the rear window. SUCKED!
My "New" HT has side strikes and yes, they are in use. I'm not as think as you dumb I am!

WTF? Sorry but I had to laugh a bit at that ^

Either way my NB has side strikers.
