how much more difficult is it to get in and out?
For those that have door bars does it make it much harder to get in out of the car? I imagine with the roof down it is easier then with it up. Just wondering, thanks in advance.

It took me less than a week to get used to them. I think the passengers will suffer more because the dash sticks out a bit, but ultimately they can move their seats back futher.

When did you get door bars? I dont remember you having any...

Ahh, I see. did you feel they were advantageous in a track setting?
|
JB Weld all the seams and you wont need door bars yo
|
I was just being curious on this, I may do them one day but for now my miata is a daily driver. Although i can see the door bars making my hot chick friend have to lift her legs higher to get in, and she has several short skirts she likes to wear.

Just install a passenger side door bar. It's a win win

That is awesome. You should provide photos of said skirt for us to help determine the best doorbar/sea combo for you.
Joking aside, many people swear the door bars combined with a roll bar are great for rigidity. The door bars do mean you are going to have more difficulty fitting an aftermarket seat in there and does give you one more thing to trip over when getting out of the car. If you aren't tracking the car a lot, I don't think the door bars will be loved long. Track and I both run without them and we try to beat the crap out of little miatas. You may end up hating them and selling them to me for cheap if you only street it. |
I think for dd/track duty you should look into the fm butterfly brace, my thought would be roll bar ties into the "frame rails" and the door bars also tie into these. The butterfly brace strengthens it from underneath the car making It look the same with even more strength then the door bars could give.
In theory at least |
Word is door bars do more then butterfly. If you are lowered the butterfly will be your new skid plate as well.
|
It would Probobly add a lot of strength if you welded the frame rails onto the car, then use the bolts for the brace itself.

Joking aside, We need pics to asses this situation! Other than saying that, I really have nothing I can contribute to this conversation, I have no doorbars... |
Agreed, I cannot add any further expert information without pics.

door bars>butterfly
But the smarter move is a peep mirror mounted to the glovebox door. |
