installing intake filter cone, but having trouble :/

Hello people, this is Julekpl again. I am going to install my air filter cone, but it seems I do not have an adequate air source. I have a stock 1990 miata, and I have purchased the TSI (turn signal intake) lights, however my stock headlights seem to block out most of the air. I have a plastic hose that connects to the top of the cone an allows for better reach of a desired air source. My only issue is that I do not have enough room for the hose. I have a few pictures here, and I was wondering, What if I put the hose in the hole bellow my engine? Would it suck up air at a 180 degree angle? Thanks!

I wouldn't put it too low because if you go through a puddle and suck up water you will need to replace your engine. I hate to tell you, but the stock setup might not be so bad. Check this out.

I have seen this video already, however I seem to get a nicer, more smooth gain of HP with this filter (I used this filter before, but not with a significant amount of air coming into the engine), whereas with the factory filter, I got a rougher kick when I floored the gas. So even if I have a tube leading up to the filter itself in the engine, I could flood my engine? So does the tube really suck up water like that?
