New dude
Gents,
just liquidated two vehicles and grabbed a 1997 M Edition with factory hard top. I was lucky enough to find a car close to me, in a configuration close to what I was wanting. Anyway we hopped in the M5 and took 98 miles of twists to see the MX-5. The guy who had the car runs a Land Rover restoration shop and we spent quite a while visiting with him and looking at his projects.. really a fun place to look around. The car checked out really well, it was in a fender bender and came to him for repair. The damage was light but the PO had gotten a high enough bid to total the vehicle. It's salvage title, but you'd never know.. factory hard top kinda makes up for that anyway ;) Brought the car home and had a blast, probably much more fun than my buddy was having in the M5 - at or close to the speed limits anyway. This will be a DD for me as it slowly morphs into a track toy, one step at a time. I've been tracking a 2006 Z06 for several years and it's time to start running a track vehicle with cheap consumables. Thanks for having me - see you around. - Tim (pic isn't uploading but I'll keep trying) |
$20 brake rotors and cheap tires make it a real bargain to track. I know a couple of guys on the forum that are in your neck of the woods. I will try to alert them to your presence here.
Welcome to the forum. I have plenty of do's and don'ts that I would be happy to share about tracking a Miata when you get ready to start modifying. I'm happy another track junkie has showed up! |
Any tips and tricks are always welcome!
Thanks man |
Hey Tim, get some pictures of your car! I live a bit north of you (taos), what track do you go to? I'm assuming asr/motiva raceway or whatever they are calling it now days. I'd love to turn some laps over there and intend on doing so sometime this year.

I've been trying to upload pics but the damn thing doesn't work! :(
I bought my car real close to you, in Mora. Motiva speedway indeed. I need to call Charlie and see what dates he's looking at for June, you need to go! It's a killer little track. Very technical and fun in a momentum car like a miata. |

I bet that was a fun drive back from Mora :) Definitely send me a pm if you ever come up this way and we can go for a nice drive :skid: This is my car: https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1400304664 https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1400304664 |
Your car looks awesome! I'm a bit jealous of the color :)
I've been trying to upload from my cpu or flickr. I was going to not have to register at yet another site to host photos. This forum is run by the same engine as the M5board and uploads work like a charm there. When I make it back up that way we'll definitely have to go for a rip! |
All you need is the URL of the image and to put it within img [img][/img] brackets. Post up the url of the pictures and I'll try to do something with them, too.

On your Flicker page, right click on the picture and then click on "copy image location". Then come here and click on the little yellow box in at the top of the composing new message box that looks like it has two mountains and the sun or moon above it. It will create a popup. Erase the "http\\:" from the popup box and then right click and paste the image location info and press the ok button. This should drop the coding for the image location into the message box so that when you press "post quick reply" the picture should appear in your post.
