Rear caliper pistons question
Ok so ive asked a bunch of people and no one seems to know how to do it. I did a brake job today on my 97 STO edition miata and i was wondering how you push the piston in on the rear calipers so you can put new pads? Do you use a c clamp like for the front calipers? Or is it supposed to be rotated in with some sort of special tool?

No do not use a clamp on the back, there is a little black cap pull it out and use an allen key maybe a 6mm and turn it I think counter clockwise, and the piston will sink down. When you put the new pads inn,put the everything together excluding the wheels. Use the allen key to adjust the the caliper piston out, spin the rotors until the new pads are rubbing the new rotors, turn the allen key back 1/3 and that's it. You can do whatever after that. I hope this helps.

No problem, I don't know if it's an allen key but there is a manual adjustment there. It's been years since I messed with the rear brake.Anyways take it easy:)

There is a bolt that covers the allen headed adjuster.

also remember to lube the slide pins for the caliper, and adjust the allen key back when your done.
