Starting On the New Radiator
1 Attachment(s)
So today i started working on the car getting it ready for the new radiator, i also decided to do an AC delete. I decided on the AC delete becuse there was no R12 in the system and i hear the conversion does not help to much. Heres a picture of what the car looks like right now. Just waiting for the new radiator to come :ohnoes:

Sweet, thanks for the link. The 65 Daytona Coupe is my favorite. Someday I will build one of those things. I love the look of them, and the sound....
no problem
Did you tear the front end apart for another reason or just the radiator. Just curious what else is on the list.

Ah got it.
why pusher?
IC piping is in the way of the driverside fan, and more working room on the front of the engine.
Puller is typically much more efficient if you can rearrange things to work.
I saw a '90 Miata automatic's radiator out at my buddy's shop recently and it was a 1 core! It was no thicker than a dime is tall. |
clock your turbo, don't convert the fans.
still have the ps pump and there isn't a lot of room for that that exhust manifold is kinda weird design the turbo sits on top.
Can you aim the compressor outlet towards the floor and run the piping straight down? Then turn it forward underneath where the A/C compressor is or would have been?
i have to put that hook shaped piece in there somewhere.
why not just refill with R12 there is still a lot of it around, just most shops will not do a 134 A fill using the R12 connections. It is no more expensive as 134A in most places
nobody in my area has r12 stuff anymore :(
Good luck with build. I figured you must live up north. No A/C is torture from May to November in Florida.
its been done for a while, its undrivable 3-6 weeks a year, 100+ with above 70% humidity. it runs to warm for those days. but i have my ranger to drive in winter and when its just to damn hot to drive the miata.

im gonna dig up an old thread for a rant. so im on my way home from work tonight and a raccoon runs out in front of me. i hit it and it knocks out an intercooler pipe, so at this point im just trying to keep it going. keep it going and get home. so i get out and look and see that it didnt break the front bumper, look underneath the car and theres antifreeze running. look and from what i can see in the dark is the intercooler pushed the push fans into the radiator while it was spinning. we will see more tomorrow. well ----
lame. I hit a raccoon in my fit. Cracked the bumper and bent the condenser. Insurance win.
i am getting way to good at taking the car apart. just saying.
on impact the raccoon hit the bottom of my intercooler, pushing that back into the radiator. and the body went flying and looks like it hit my exhaust. the intercooler has no leaks with a water test, so i will be reusing it. brackets are toast though. |
The brackets for the intercooler are toast so gotta make some new ones.
