Default Things that go squeak and/or bump in the night!

Recently I have noticed some squeaks and knocking sounds coming from the rear suspension of my 97 miata. The sway bar, bar links, shocks and exhaust have all been changed over the past year or so. I have shot some lubricant onto the various rubber parts/linkages/bushings but not really any difference. Any suggestions as to what this might be? There is no apparent issue with the ride other than it sure got tighter and flatter on cornering!

Check the top shock mounts from inside the trunk. Bounce the car and watch them for play.

Will do and thanks. I have not done that yet. That way I can make sure the little light truly does go out when the trunk is shut! Kidding!

You laugh, but mine kept killing the battery until I removed the bulb.

i UNDERSTAND COMPLETELY. i HAVE A DIRECT-WIRED CB radio that I sometime forget to turn off giving the same results. Now there are cables in the trunk, just in case. Currently traveling to KY country to visit son's family and our grand daughter.Checking those shocks will have to wait for a week.

Well kids, we got home from KY country and the first thing I did was take my 97 for a ride. It was so nice to be in control instead of the boxie rental car we had out of town.
The next task was to check the shock mounts in the trunk. I put a wrench on them even though no apparent movement or looseness was evident. Only got a little tighter so tomorrow I will get out onto a twisty and put it to a real test.
