Unhappy "Lost passenger light button"

The button that turns on the light when you open the drivers door was broken. I got the correct part from Mazda and removed the old button. The wire attached to the old button came off in the process and fell back into the door sill frame. Is there some way other than trying to "fish" it out with a coat hangar that I can do to get this wire back into my greasy little hands in order to finish this repair? Thanks for any suggestions/help/advice.

Disconnect the battery so it doesn't arc around while trying to get it out. If you don't get it "fishing" take the plastic interior panel off and use the access hole.
