<This guy is not feeling very patient about hodgepodge of used things not fitting well together. It sucks when you have to test fit things on the weekend, then formulate a plan and order things to be there to try the next weekend and A. Either you realize you forgot something or B. Something you planned to do and spent money on parts for isn't going to work as intended. I'm tired of having to drop back and punt.

Decided to try a little interior tweaking after living with things for a while.

Today I installed an E-brake handle that I bought off eBay. It was originally for a Honda and the inner bore is too large and too long. I cut it to length and made a silicone bushing to fill out the bore. I wanted red anodized aluminum to match the shift knob and choices were very limited.

My red shift knob was an eBay purchase and had a few scratches from this use since I bought it. The red anodize didn't exactly match the E-brake handle, which bothers me since they sit so close together.

The aluminum gauge bezel was also an eBay purchase and I decided I didn't like it as much since installing the hood upholstery. I removed it about a week ago and found that I actually like the darker color surround for contrast to the gauges.

At an auto parts store I was browsing the rattle can specialty paints and came across a metallic red paint. The can actually described it as an anodized appearance, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I ended up liking all three pieces a lot more than I thought I would.

Installed modded nb tophats all around with trimmed rear nb bumpstops and stock nb front ones. Car rides worlds better now that I'm not on the bumps anymore lol.
Got all 4 off ebay with all hardware and all 4 bumpstops for 50 shipped!!

I have to raise my ground controls up a little cause after that I'm tucking tire

In case anyone is wondering, I'm running ground control sleeves and 375lb spring in front with bilstein hd, 250lb in rear. Nb mounts, just using bumpstops and smaller washer to get most travel. 1" solid front sway. This setup kicks ass (in a good way)
I was going to get isc rear tophats with nb fronts but saw all 4 on ebay and said what the hell... we'll see how this does for me after a couple months

Gave her a bath. It's nice to have access to a heated shop.

This description begs for pics.

I unrolled the air hose around my Miata to get to my wife's truck. I changed the oil and filter, the rear diff oil, rotated the tires on her SUV. I also surmised that her front brake pads were nearing needing replacement and decided that the rotors were beyond their useful service life and should likewise be replaced. I decided it would be good to go ahead and replace the front wheel bearings which had some previous moisture related wear issues but I had simply repacked them at that point. I also ordered sway bar end link bushings. 259,000 miles is pretty good for a set or rotors, right? $200 worth of parts from Rockauto ordered tonight.

Then I moved it and brought my truck up behind the Miata and changed the oil and filter, air filter, and rotated the tires. I also removed the 120v 800 watt power inverter and replaced its cooling fan with one I had laying around in another inverter.

I'm mad at the NA because the turbo I wanted to use didn't fit correctly. I ordered a replacement turbo on ebay yesterday.

This was about 1-2 threads higher then it originally was. Let me find the pics of of before I raised it lol

The amazing part is with it at the above height it rides worlds better then it did on tein s techs and stock bumpstops, and better then my 92 on kyb agx and h/r springs.. With the tein setup on this car, and the 92 setup (h/r springs, kybagx and nb unmodified bumpstops on na tophats), I could always tell where the bumpstops were and when I was on them, with this current setup theres a visible gap(Its definitely not riding on the bumps at least in the rear) I can't tell, the transition is so smooth. The same on ramp I've been hitting every day for the last couple years has a small washboard part that used to really slow me down, cause by the time I get to it I'm hard on the bumpstops, but now the trimmed nb bumps really soak it up!! And almost NO rattles over bumps, like no more "Why coffee spill? becuz pothole" . /rant. I'm just really diggin the setup.

diesel why do you have texas plates still?

dieselmiata Feb 12, 2012 10:42 PM

I don't want Illinois plates. They're expensive, and I don't want to give any more money than I have to to the corrupt ass Chicago government.
