and it just goes on & on & on & on

Seems that this motor isn't going to be back together real soon, after finally getting the crank sorted, go to do the dummy fit up and WTF, Fab9 have struck again!!!!!!
I don't think this clown knows how to do anything right, damaged parts arrive so do the right thing and send a email, no answer, ask for a quote, no answer, tell him he's stuffed up the parts and sent the wrong parts via email and you guessed it, no answer.
Thankfully Bill @ miataRoadster has come to the rescue again and the parts will be here next week.

So I'll sit back and suck a few more stubbies (beers) @ this rate I won't fit in the car!!!!

Please PM your contact information to me and I will make certain that FAB9 is in contact with you about resolving your issue. They are a sponsor on one of our other forums so I know I can get in contact with him. Maybe I can help.

I just bought my first item from them last week and it came quickly without any issues.

At long bloody last, parts have arrived, block cleaned dummy assembled, plastigaged measured stripped & reoiled.
Block has been decked, and cleaned yadda yadda.
So finally its going back together, basic block assembled at my workshop and now on its way home for final assembly. Why take it home to do the final, Bribie Island is sand and wind and not ideal for engine building, so home we go
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, short motor is back where it should be, just waiting on head to be finished and cams to come back.

Made up reroute pipework with sensor fitting still to be silver soldered in,
I've noticed that lots talk about reroute and how someone will bring out a kit but nothing ever seems to come of all the talk. Made up a support plate that bolts up through the two holes left vacant from strut removal, gussetted and pipe bent and welded. My welder at work will finish off the sensor fittings on Monday then off to be powder coated. This is my old head that I now use to dummy fit and try out different things, easier her than on the car!!!

So finally making progress at last and hopefully back on road and track sooner than later.

Oh and the specs on the motor!!!!!
85mm, m-tuned rods, block decked .65mm to bring pistons up to spec, balanced and lightened crank, 1.6 light weight flywheel (3.5kg) made up clutch unit to suit, Noonan cylinder head, cnc ported cutback valves, performance springs 72 lbs, head to 49cc and squech to suit, modified RB headers, high flow cat, 450 injectors, reroute, modified gears in pump and pressure spaced up. Cams around the 270 range and 10mm lift with adjustable gears. So basically a good street motor that can still play D2D when I want. Oh and NO small hoses anymore and thermostat modified.

added new air filter piping as I don't think the old system was good enough, just gotta think of a better system.

Had to machine the faces, make up new gaskets and then stuff around setting everything up. These are proper 45mm race ITB's from EFI Hardware and sheeeeet their a bastard to set up. But once done and I can find the correct trumpets that I want, I'll make up a air box and run it through the air system I now have.

Soooooooooo hopefully soon we can go play again, mean while my Porker 986 CS has arrived so the Mazda may get a little neglected:eek:

Body spiffing

Clayed the bodywork and ran a coat of Meguiar's paste wax on afterward. The Evolution Orange paint still looks like new after 15 years and 8 months. Of course it living in a garage doesn't hurt it. I've never left home in it if it was raining, and can count the times that it's been caught in a rainstorm on one hand. Sucker still looks like it did on the showroom.
