CEL for EGR Valve

Just want to know peoples thoughts on clearing this. Should I do an EGR delete (will it clear the CEL), clear the EGR valve, or replace it with a new one? What have you done or recommend? Thanks in advance!

You're likely getting a code for the EGR passageway being clogged, and not necessarily the valve itself (though it's extremely easy to clean the valve). I would recommend just cleaning everything, it's roughly the cost of a delete kit and EGR header cap anways, and will improve your emmissions and mpg compared to removed.

The valve is the cast iron looking thing on the back of the mainfold. Unplug it, and unscrew the two bolts. Spray it all down, making sure the components easily move. This is like a 10 min job.

The EGR passageway is more likely clogged past the valve - where the carbon soot travels through the manifold up to a 1/8" tiny hole in the starting neck of the Intake Manifold. This is about an 1-2 hour job of you're a novice. There is little risk as long as you clearly mark (and take pics) all your vacuum tubes and bolts.
1. Remove all the hoses and hardware that fasten the TOP HALF of the manifold on. Remove and put the metal gasket in a safe place for re-use.

2. Once the top half is removed, you'll see a small hole in the throat coated in carbon. This can use up to 2 cans of Carb cleaner to clear out.

3. If you look at your bottom half of the manifold, you'll see the mated hole, about 5/8" in diameter also coked up. I've read not spraying down there, but I did do it after I removed the EGR valve and EGR tube. I just left a rag at the back of the manifold to catch all of the crud.
