Thumbs up Good Afternoon - Need some real help with my 1998 1.6 MK2

Hi,
My name is Tracey and i am from the UK so I dont have a miata, I have a japanese imported 1.6 Evolution Orange Mx5 Mk2 with daisy wheels, twin exhaust ss from Moss. Its a basic car. Fabric seats, hardtop and soft top roof.
I do know the basics of these cars as I used to have a MK1 S Ltd for 7 years.

Unfortunately a problem started with one day the stereo not working at all. Its a 2 year old stereo and we have replaced it with a new one, but each weekend of the summer we have tried to solve this. First of all there was no power to the stereo in the wires. Secondly none of the speakers worked. The wires did look as if they had been bodged by the previous owner, but now my husband has managed to insert a new power lead to the stereo.

It seems that there is a break in the loom where we cant get at it unless we take the whole dash out. so in the meantime one speaker is now wired up to the stereo on a new link from the loom where there is power and the other speaker in the drivers door we yet have to connect.

But weirdly the hazard switch button also has no power to it, yet the indicators, lights, and everything else works.
We have checked all the fuses, all the connections except what we cant see behind the inside of the dash. (in other words the whole loom).
Now I have an mot coming up in November. I dont know whether the hazard relay is knackered because the indicators still work.

We dont want to remove the dash, I know on a dry day here it would take a while with two of us. So Im asking should I replace the whole loom to be on the safe side???

I use the website mx5 nutz over here and nobody wants to help.
I have a guy called Carl Smith CBS Autos do does all mx5's but hes more mechanical.
I usually order my parts from Mx5 Heaven or Mx5 Parts or ebay. A relay for the mk2 over here is £28 and thats used!

We are going to order some new speakers too.
As I said no electrical problems apart from the speakers and hazard button not working because of no power.
This car is my everyday car and I look after it well.

Thanks for all your help if you can
