Replacing Convertible Top - 2005 MX

2005 Mx in need of new convertible top.

I need help. Please advise. I have checked some of the aftermarket options online and the local dealer has sent me to a shop in which I do not feel any confidence. There seems to be 1 and 2 piece models (I assume 2 is better - like the new commercials for att-iphone surf and talk simultaneously). I have a heated glass rear window now and am looking to have that as part of my new top as well. There are "zippered" heated glass windows and not zippered. If you have any experience or knowledge on replacement convertible tops - please share.

I have installed a few of these tops, they are not that hard to install.

A nice top with a heated glass window should cost you just under 300 dollars to buy.

A weekend of your time and a few tools is all you need to install a top.

I buy my tops on ebay they are the same tops a top shop is going to use.

I suggest a zipper glass window. It can be down when the top is up for flow-through air and if your AC ever goes south you can live with ou the AC. I had a 90 with a zippered glass window and bad AC. Here in Alabama's hot summers I survived with the top up , the side and back windows down. Now after having a couple of skin cancers burned off my arm and ear edges I plan to have the top up on the cloudless 90+ degree days and a hearty supply of sun screen in the glove box.

go with the zippered glass as everyone has said avoid the vinyl window because in a few years it will rip(the window that is) and you will be back at square one.

I am also going to be doing that soon. I watched a few videos on Youtube that show you how to do it. I'm not sure yet on where to buy the top itself. I've looked on e-bay and also googled Miata soft-tops. Does anyone have a specific place they have used and would recommend?

Moss Miata and good win racing have a good selection of good quality tops

Get a Robbins brand top and get it with the rain rail already installed. If you do that it doesn't matter where you get it, just get the best price. Moss is not usually cheap on anything.
