I want to change my steering wheel, so how do I get the air bag off without it exploding in my face? Do I just disconnect the battery for a certain amount of time.

 

Always disconnect the battery when working with the air bags. Should be 4 nuts on the backside of the steering wheel, a connector on the inside of the wheel for the horn and air bag. Main will be in the center and pull hard.

 

Thanks,is there a certain amount of time to leave the battery disconnected before I pull the air bag off?

 

take the battery off and hold the brake down for 30 or so seconds. should be fine after that.
