Default Tire/rim opinions.

Hey there. New to the forum life. I have a '00 mx 5 and I still have stock rims on her. I've been searching around for some new rims. I saw a set on Craigslist but it's a 5-bolt set and are 17x8. Obviously they are a different size than to a NB. Would it mess anything up like the axel or anything if I were to buy them?

Any opinions or recommendations would be great!

Without an awful lot of expensive work, those won't fit an NB. You need a 4 bolt wheel, with a 4 x 100 bolt pattern. Depending on your needs (wants), a 15 inch x 8" wheel would be a better choice. That size typically is considerably lighter, and will ride better, and corner better. That size wheel, again dependent on tire size, would not need any fender modifications.

Shop this list for 15x8 or 15x7 and you will be fine:
Miata Wheels - Mazda Performance Parts

Nothing larger than a 15" fits properly on a first or second generation Miata.

15x8 with a 225/45-15 tire will be the widest that will not require modifications.

What 15" wheel offset works best for filling the wheel well and not having to do any modifications to the lip?
