Miata Forumz - Mazda Miata Chat Forums - 06 NC won’t Rev past 3500rpm

Hi Guys, New to the forum.

Father in law has a 06 1.8. It has been garaged since around october. Took it out after doing some subframe work and it wont rev past 3500rpm.

Feels similar to a redline fuel cut. jerks and chugs and wont let it go any further. Doesnt seem speed related as you can drive normally below 3500.

We have looked for obvious air leaks to no avail. Cleaned the MAF and also checked for faulty ignition coils. Still have the same issue.

No Engine light so no real leads.

ANY help or suggentions are greatly appreciated
