Default Security light

I'm so happy to be back driving a fun car after 12 years of driving a GMC mini van (due to work and ability to tow a 21' boat). I just got an 07' Touring with PRHT.

So here is my first question (probably first of many). There is a little red light in the center if the instrument cluster that is a car with the silhouette of a key in the middle. I starts to slowly flash on and off after I take the key out and it never stops flashing. Is that what it's suppose to do? Or am I doing something wrong? Or is there potentially something wrong with the car? I looked in the owner's manual and it really doesn't answer my question.

I've been doing quite a bit of reading in this forum/website and I've found it very helpful. I'm so looking forward to doing some suspension and power mods to the car and doing some autocross and maybe even track days with it. It's been over 15 years since I sold my last SCCA race car and I had forgotten how much fun driving can be.

I believe that's the factory immobilizer light. It is supposed to make criminals think you have an alarm but is really just part of the system that keeps the car from being cranked with a screwdriver or anything other than its own key.

Default Just to clear up a point...

It is the security icon which represents both the engine immobilizer AND the alarm. I also have a 2007 Grand Touring model. The icon flashes on and off all the time when you park the car and turn the car off.
