Welcome! It's getting busier and busier around here!

flying_solo 01-05-2012 09:30 AM

How are the WCMC events? I haven't joined myself, but thought about trying out a few AutoX events for those times when I can't make it to the track.

Schadenfreude 01-05-2012 04:41 PM

I was interested in doing it then I looked at some in car footage @ Alexian and it looked boring compared to Gingerman footage.

$hane 01-05-2012 04:49 PM

Nice man did you buy Andre's Miata?

flying_solo 01-05-2012 05:48 PM

As I understand it, if I compete in two AutoX events and get my ass kicked, I can then apply for one year of Mazda Speed parts. It's worth the two days for that.

Schadenfreude 01-05-2012 06:03 PM

is this serious?

flying_solo 01-05-2012 06:35 PM

From what people are telling me, AutoX events count. Attend two and save your results. Then you may apply.

Track 01-05-2012 07:13 PM

just to clarify, ANY timed event counts. If you don't have timed events, they will accept membership cards to a motorsports club, a picture of your car being prep'd for racing, and a time of when you expect to start autocrossing/HPDE.

Lastly, they never ask to renew your membership, so you can do 2 events and pretty much never worry about it again.

flying_solo 01-05-2012 07:44 PM

track are you saying my Nasa Membership is all I need?

If you are building your Mazda for racing:
If you are preparing your Mazda now, and intend to be racing within the next 12 months you will need

-The estimate date of the first race you intend to compete in. (Within 12 months)
-A Racing Club Membership Card - Any sanctioned racing club. (car clubs not included)
-A Quality Photo of your car. (does not need to be in race trim)

flying_solo 01-06-2012 09:08 AM

So, that's interesting. If I understand what your saying, I can try to join now with my Nasa Membership and a "Quality Photo of my car." Pick an estimated date I plan to race and wait for my membership card?

I suppose it's worth a shot. I have nothing to lose.

Track 01-06-2012 10:57 AM

mazdaspeed has no membership card. all I did was post up my one autocross result, then take a picture of my NASA membership card and send it in (along with a picture). they liked that fine.

Once you send it in, I think a "Steve" will contact you by e-mail, if not just call in and ask if your membership has been reviewed yet.

specracer80 01-06-2012 12:38 PM

The WCMC events are really well organized and you get a ton of runs during they day (typically 8-12) unlike many other places.

As far as Mazda Speed goes, it seemed like they were changing their requirements so that "car club" events like WCMC wouldn't count. Not sure on that that though, may be worth a call into them.
