Hello All

Hello fellow Miata owners. I just purchased my 1997 Montego Blue Miata with 84k miles. So far I really like the car. Driving my Toyota Tundra Crewmax one day and the Miata the next is a big space adjustment but the fun on the exit ramps makes up for a lot of that. Here's a pic of my new little buggy:

The car is in great shape. I would like to replace the seats in it though. The driver's side seat is especially worn. Can anyone tell me what year seats are interchangeable with a '97? I'd assume the first gen ones are, '90 through '97 I believe. What about the newer seats in the gen 2's? Thanks in advance for the help and I look forward to swapping stories, pics, and tips with other forum members.

Welcome to MFz, car looks to be in very nice shape.
as for the seats, i dont see why you couldnt swap gen 2 seats in, but this is only my assumption. results may very.
but your current seats have head rest speakers, and i dont believe gen 2 seats have them.
anyway enjoy your stay.

Thanks RedTurbo. It kinda looks like it from that pic but my car doesn't have speakers in the head rests. I wish it did though! I made an offer on some gen 2 seats on eBay and the seller said that they are a little higher than the gen 1 seats. I'm thinking I maybe better stick with gen 1s. I found a handful of nice ones on eBay that I may bid on this week.

I gotta say- your car was the first to catch my eye when I started trolling this forum. Those black headlight covers are awesome! They make the car, IMO.

If you are a taller fellar you will want to stick with the NA seats from my understanding. If you want to track it, you have many seat choices in the aftermarket selection. I'm vertically compact myself and never had an issue with either seat, but the NAs I sit in do feel a bit larger.

Welcome and congrats on the purchase!

thanks, in actuality the car photographs better than it looks. it has the common rocker rust. 20yr old paint its way over due for a respray. and for me boost and the wheels are my favorite parts of the car.

Thanks solo. I'm a little on the compact side myself, lol. 5'10" This is my work car so I'm really just after something that's comfy on the way to and from. Thanks for the input!

the orginal tan leather first gens are comfy, and the early ones had headrest speakers.
