New Guy

Hi all, new guy from Georgia. Just purchased a 2004 MSM and waiting for her deliver from Arizona. My first Miata was a 2000 and I have been sorry every day since I sold her. This one will be a keeper and a valued member of the family.

Skyman: Welcome to the forum.

Is it stock?

I'll refrain from discussing suppliers, since you've seen the earlier post today. I have about 220 k miles on my chassis, although I chose to rebuild the engine with different internals at about 200 k miles. they are nice reliable cars, that are fun to drive for sport and also when you have someone you want to impress.

Would you know the forum handle for the previous owner?

You'll enjoy the MSM. When you have a chance, I suggest taking it to Deals Gap. It's not too far away from you, and it's a nice drive. Just be careful to stay in your lane!! It is a warmer weather trip though. The mountains can get interesting in the winter, particularly if you have summer tires on.

CharlesE I have not even seen her yet except for some crappy cell phone pictures. I am pretty sure she is stock except for two pipes coming out for the exhaust. She has 64,000 miles on her according to the car fax I got on her. I bought her from a ford dealer in AZ. They had not even put pictures up yet on there web site. I just missed one in Kent Washington by hours that had 30,000 miles for 12 grand.
Deals gap is defiantly on the list to do! I have a couple of things on my list for her like a roll bar ( first mod ) and some FM pieces after I check her out and make sure she is up to snuff.

Probably means the downpipe and exhaust pipes were replaced with aftermarket parts.....which is good.

Check the front of the intake manifold for a black rubber 90 degree elbow. It's about 3" in diameter, on the passenger side of the car. If it's still there, it can pop off when you ask for power. You'll have 40 horsepower when you expect 150! Change it out for a metal one from FM or BEGI. Much safer.

Otherwise, do what you will with it. There are a fair number of easy mods to enhance it, but it's pretty good stock. Enjoy.

Thanks for the tip CharlesE. I will check it out,,,,,I am really excited to get her home and do a through checkout. It maybe a racing beat muffler but I can't tell from the cell phone pictures. I definitely have a shopping list for FM :-) but all in good time or should I say as funds permit lol. Really would like to have the Little enchilada package to start with after the roll bar.

Should you need it, there is a replacement elbow on Ebay for $22.50. Not mine, no other interest.

Thank you CharlesE I will check it out, I am still awaiting THE arrival of the new toy. I am not sure what she is going to need yet except for a roll bar. I will check out Ebay and see what is available.

Well guys my 04 MSM arrived today,, got to say it was not as advertised from the dealer. It has rust in front of both rear wheel wells. I called the dealer and to their credit they told me to take it to a body shop and they would make it right. (after I told them I was shipping it back to them ) The car drives well and is pretty fast at least it runs well tracks straight and the brakes are good. It has a enjen cold air intake and a racing beat exhaust. Tomorrow I will get it up on a lift and check out the rest of the car. I noticed also it has adjustable coil over shocks (are these standard? ) More news as I get it,,,,,,,
