I'm a newbie!
I've never been able to afford a sports car until now but i finally managed to buy a previously well maintained wrecked 94 with a good drive train and a rust free 92 with a few dents that is ok excerpt the n motor is ready for an overhaul.
I'm hoping to swap the entire drive train from the wreck into the 92 since it is much lower mileage. Is this an all bolt in job, or will i have to buys bunch of adapter parts? https://www.miataforumz.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
And I want to swap the fourteen inch wheels out for 15 inch wheels in order to improve thee gas mileage- I will have to drive this car quite a bit and gas mileage is far more important than good acceleration.
So- my second question is what 's my best bet for some cheap used 15 inch wheels , and what size tires can I run in day to day driving without modifying the body or suspension ?
I will eventually fix the car up right but for now money is a big issue.
I'm an old guy and will drive the car like a little old lady- most of the time!

Welcome to the forum! Not sure why this is so common here, but you should post your intro here and your actual problems in the other forum sections.

The '94 drivetrain is much better than the '92, including the rear diff and axles. The brakes are even bigger and will easily swap. You may have a few wiring harness issues due to some changes between the two years (radiator fan switch sensor, for instance), but it is certainly doable. It is much easier with an aftermarket computer but that is likely out of the budget. The air metering device (MAF or AFM) will work differently between the two years.
Wheels that fit a Honda Civic will also commonly fit a Miata if that helps. A 15" wheel will not get you better mileage around town than a 14" due to the added weight out from the center of rotation. Switching to the '94 rear differential assembly will give you a taller and more economical final drive ratio for highway use. It is also a bit more durable. The earlier rear ends are known to fail commonly and often dramatically.
