New from Southern Califronia

Hey guys!

Currently not a Miata owner, but hope to have one next year.

I am a 3rd year college student working down the path of IT and pursuing a BS degree in Computer Science

I love cars and I just want to know more about them. I currently have a celica as my DD and was looking for a project/weekend car to work on and learn more.

After researching a bunch, I was originally going for a Mark 3 supra, but I happened to stumble over the NA Miata. So what the heck did some test drives with the NA, NB, and NC around the area and man....LOVED THE NA!

Now I am in a research phase (which includes saving up the initial funds) of just learning about everything I can on the Miata before I buy it next year

Hope to learn a lot from everyone here and meet this community!

Welcome to mfz, i am also working toward a BS in Computer science.
anyway if you want performance turbo is the way to go. be warned its a very slippery slope. if you have not yet purchased a car or got one into the contract phase, you want a 94-97. some came factory with the torsen LSD and the motor is more powerful from the factory than the 90-93 1.6.

Thanks so much!
Is there a particular specialty in Computer Science that you are pursuing?

Thanks for the information! I will definitely keep that in mind when I am actively searching to buy a Miata.

Quick question though: with a 94+ is it truly harder to pass smog with the OBDII? Specially if you want to do basic modifications such as Intake, Header, Exhuast, Turbo?

Very nice, I am planning to go into Network security and systems.

Haha wow, very lucky of you to have no emission laws

Unfortunately the Supra is a big fat pig to drive. The Miata changes direction much more crisply.

Welcome to here.

I would definitely agree! Out of the supra's I have driven so far compared to the Miata, I just love how the Miata turns and hugs each corner compared to the Supra :D
I hope to get in some good mountain runs next year!
