Howdy!
So I bought a '92 "Ruby Red" Miata on my 21st birthday, it was and still is, my first car! As my friends laughed away at me for purchasing a "girl's car", I couldn't help but to grin every time I hit the road, top down, music blasting and not a single care in the world (I miss the warm weather...) This is how she looked when I first got her; https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1325832991 https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1325832991 Yeah, I know - she didn't even come with oem wheels, but instead... friggin steelies and hubcaps! So as the summer months went on, I started to slowly getting into "modifying" her. First I got a HID Conversion kit from Fleabay, a K&N cone filter, and rota gt3 15x7's. https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1325832991 Okay at this point, I was pretty happy about my ride - but my suspension was shot. Even though it was my first car, I could feel every bump just crush my soul as the wheels would fly into the air, and come back down crashing on the bumpstops. So I decided to be cheap and.. got rokkor's, haa! But as I got a friend to install the coilovers, he noticed that one of my control arms were seized. And he couldn't get the rear shocks off without breaking the bolt or sawing it off. That day, we only installed the front coil overs. I was riding with a rake for almost 2 weeks, until.. I finally found someone (local shop that collects miatas and chops them) and purchased new (used) set of control arms... We installed them the very next day and since they were out, and new. I decided to sand them down, prime it.. and paint it. Fluorescent orange! https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1325832991 I had some reverse rake going on because the rear was maxed out but the fronts still had a few more threads left to go moar low. Natural camber came into play https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1325832991 So moar low I went, maxed out the fronts, added a "DIY lip" and now I'm left with this. https://www.miataforumz.com/attachme...ine=1325832991 As of right now, the car's ride quality is pretty (Toronto has some pretty bad streets in certain parts, it makes my teeth grind).. I regret maxing out the coil overs, go figure. This week I decided that function>form, especially with a car like this. I'm raising both the rear and fronts and fixing that camber this weekend. But anyway, tl;dr - I have a Miata and I like forums. |
Welcome, tootrue23!
|
Glad you're going for function too, Joey. We're dumb bandwagon-hoppers for getting these Rokkors though. Ah well least we're learning lol.
|
Hi tootrue23, enjoy your stay :)
|
lol at you two. Welcome to the forum Joey. Hope you enjoy your stay and gain some knowledge on this "function" thing you speak of.
Doing an autocross will certainly help convince you, functional is much more fun! |
Welcome welcome! I wanna live in Canada one day. lol
|
Joey and I went to High school together lol. I freaking miss Canada their roads are so much better. Everything is more expensive though -.-"
|
welcome to the club, nice ride.
|
Welcome! I think it's an age thing that most of us go through. We hear all the reasons not to do something, but do it anyway just to see what it's like. You just have to experience it for yourself. When I got my first Miata I was told by a million people to not put Tein s-tech springs on KYB GR2's. Guess what I did? Put Tein springs on GR2's. It rode great for a few weeks until all the shocks blew out.
Anyway, not trying to hijack your thread. Welcome to the forum, glad to have you! |
Thanks for the warm replies guys! I didn't get any email notifications for this so I haven't checked it in a while. I work a loot and hardly get time to just sit at home and surf (a 6 day response in a thread that I created kind of proves that).
I'll start using this forum more actively, or try to! |

Lol, are they tearing it up over there or something, been a while since I've been on cr
And I really enjoyed helping out some of those guys with car problems. I am kinda done with that now, if they want help they can ask else where. |

I don't know, I just log into CR to check the Hankook petition thread. CR was a fun source of trolling. Too many guys get butthurt when you don't like their lip, BRAH.

I've lurked over there for a couple of years, never made one post. Some good info to be found there, but I never liked wading through all the trolling. I digress, some trolling can be fun, but not when it happens in every single thread.
|
Sheesh. I only go there for the marketplace section lol.

Up in Bradford, land of the farms and nothingness. About an hour drive from Toronto.
|
Farm and nothingness? That nothingness is where your food comes from son! I mean, it's nothing if you don't like to eat.
Farmers FTW! |
oh, and where else are you going to bed your track pads at? You need good country roads for that! :)

I know, I was just joking with you as well. Never take me serious, nobody else does. But, I am from the land of corn and soybeans for realz.
Proof, crops are green tractors are red. Go Case IH! |
I'm a farmer. We have a brand new green tractor. It's the worst tractor we own. Should have gone red.
All of our old John Deere stuff is incredible though. Anyways, hello and welcome. I can't for the life of me figure out how you maxed out your coilovers at that height. I'm lower than you by quite a lot and still have another 1.5" of thread left. Rokkor and raceland are the same as far as I know. Oh well. Like I said, welcome to the party. |
bushing preload, sway bar preload, etc. etc.
He could also just be talking about the shock sleeve, rather than the adjustment nut for the springs. |

I had to post in the welcome tractor thread. Welcome! What kind of tractor do you have? lol.
Threadjack: IH tractors are part of the Case-New Holland Group which has been owned by Fiat for several years now. Yes, the Italian car company Fiat. And newer JD tractors are made primarily in Mexico, France, and Belgium, depending on model and are significantly lighter duty than anything built prior to 1996-1998. You would always do better to buy an older one in good shape and just rebuild or replace components as necessary. /threadjack BTW, that's the first brick igloo I've ever seen! |
We've got tractors from early 00s by JD that are great. Our 7405 and 7410 are both great, but we needed something with a loader and traded our 6200 in on a 7230 with a loader. It isn't a premium tractor and no one ever bothered to tell us about the chinsey support on the three point hitch, the bad hydraulic system, the mechanical brakes, poor placement of the loader control etc etc. It's definitely a step down.
We should have a tractor thread haha. |
All old IH here. I don't think my family has anything made earlier than the 70s. Sad part is, my Aunt owns a Case New Holland Dealership.
